Bedford offers a unique and varied shopping experience from large department stores like Debenhams, Beales and Marks & Spencers to a wonderful range of niche independent retailers and designer boutiques. Add to the mix the towns abundance of history and character and you will find there is something for everyone.
Exciting News for Shoppers!
Bedford’s premier shopping centre is due to be completely renovated this year. The Harpur Centre transformation will create a more stylish and smarter shopping centre whilst still in keeping with its Grade II* listed façade.
The Harpur Centre is open 7 days a week and inside you will find the likes of well known stores such as New Look, TK Maxx, Top Man, Blue Inc, Primark, Pandora, Argos, The Fragrance Shop, Boots and WH Smith. There is plenty of parking with council car parks offering 2 hours free on a Saturday and free parking all day on a Sunday.
The Historic Arcade and Church Arcade
Both arcades offer a selection of independent shops selling everything from designer fashion labels to unique gifts and bespoke jewellery. The Historic Arcade has retained much of its character and is still a beautiful place full of light whilst the Church Arcade has a more modern feel to it. If you are ready for a well earned shopping break drop in to Gallone’s Ice Cream Parlour for some delicious Italian ice cream or Seventh Heaven for cake and a coffee, or even a glass of Champagne!
